News & Events: Exchange Filings, Straight from the Source
2026-07-24 · 2 min read
Financial news is mostly noise: recycled headlines, hot takes, anonymous "sources." SelectStock's News page takes a stricter approach — the primary source or nothing.
Where our news comes from
Every 30 minutes we pull the official NSE corporate announcements feed — the filings companies are legally required to make: quarterly results, board meetings, dividends, acquisitions, resignations, clarifications. Each item links to the actual exchange PDF, and each is auto-tagged NEWS or EVENT (dividends, record dates, AGMs). For larger companies, editorial coverage from our market-data provider adds context.
Why filings beat headlines
A headline says "Company X eyeing major acquisition, sources say." A filing says "Company X has informed the Exchange regarding acquisition of Y for ₹Z crore." One is tradeable information; the other is a rumor with a byline. Filings are also *complete* — the tiny ₹300-crore company that never makes the papers still files with NSE, and we capture it. Check the News & Events tab on any small cap you own; you may find disclosures you never knew existed.
How to use the feed
- Market-wide view (News): filter by *Events* to see the dividend/AGM/record-date calendar forming across the market.
- Per-stock view: every stock page has its own News & Events tab — read it *before* buying; a resignation or auditor note changes theses.
- Watchlist habit: skim the filings of your watched stocks weekly. Ten minutes, straight from the source, zero spin.
One honest limitation: our capture began in July 2026, so history builds forward from there. Anything filed since appears within half an hour of hitting the exchange.
